experience ravanelli photography

From our very first conversation, I may ask you to start thinking about your portrait session with the end in mind. Meaning I want you to start by thinking about what your goal is for your portraits. I truly believe that the best place for your portraits is beautifully printed on the highest quality materials for you to display in your home and enjoy every day, not sitting on hard drive and forgotten.

So, with that in mind, what are your hopes and dreams for your session? What is it about your children that you would like to remember in 20 years? And how do you want to remember it? Is it in an album that can be handed down from generation to generation? Or a wall portrait that will make you smile when you pass by it every day? Or maybe it is a collection of images arranged in a wall gallery that highlights your growing family year after year?

Whichever way you choose to display your images, we begin with the end in mind. Before we shoot any images, we create a plan for how they will be displayed in your home. Creating a plan and shooting for that plan results in a session that makes magic and is the recipe for a successful portrait process every single time.

before the session

style and concept consultation

This process starts with a phone call which I will get to know you and your family members and collect a few key information. We will book your appointment and I will send you a questionnaire which asks about your goals for the session, how you plan to display your images, your home decor, personal style and any info you can give us about your family. I want to know all about your personality, likes/dislikes, funny things your kids or spouse do, and what makes your family tick. I will review your questionnaire and we will book your complimentary consultation that will take place on your home, my studio or over the phone ! YES, this VIP experience will allow me to get to know you and your family in person before the session and choose a few areas of your home so together we can create beautiful wall galleries or discuss what other product will best fit your family.

We will also go over your wardrobe and select your outfits for your portrait session, keeping in mind what will coordinate with your house decor, and also discuss a few details and cover all questions that you may have.

the session

in studio, on location or your home

Newborn and Baby Love sessions take place at my home studio in Greenwich CT. I work with controlled studio lighting and a wonderful selection of custom props and set designs. The studio offers a calm and relaxed environment where I create a look that is timeless and sophisticated. Family sessions can be captured on location or in our studio. On location sessions offer an environment that is comfortable and familiar to families which often lead to comfortable and natural expressions. Sessions at one of Fairfield County’s beautiful parks or beaches make for some amazing and unique images, especially if the location is meaningful to you. So consider carefully where you’d like to have your session, or we can recommend a spot for you after we have spoken with you at your pre-session consultation.

Another place for your session is at the comfort of your home. Lifestyle sessions are perfect for those clients who want to capture there everyday life with minimal posing ! I’ll focus on rooms such as the nursery, the master bedroom, playroom, or the living room. I like to document rooms that may have a special meaning for you, tour family and kids, or where you spend a lot of your time. I want you to be able to look back at these photos and remember the chair you always nursed your sweet baby in or the couch where daddy would plus wild with the kids and cuddle. These photos tend to tell a story about your family at the present time.

after the session

viewing and ordering appointment

This is the best part! The Viewing & Ordering Appointment is the time when you get to see all the fruits of the pre-session consultation and your session planning pay off.  After your session, I will carefully select the best  images for the viewing session. I will compare images and narrow down to the  best based on facial expressions, posing, lighting and sharpness.

The viewing session will be an emotional and personal experience, your images are projected larger than life onto our viewing wall andI will help you sort through the images and make final decisions on what will look best with your home decor and with your portrait goals. You will be able to touch and feel the products we offer and see what your images will look like projected onto the walls of your own home using our projection software. We’ll show you actual size and pair images together for a wall portrait, gallery or heirloom album.

Portrait Delivery: After the order is placed, I’ll finalized editing and send the order to the lab for printing. Your art pieces will be ready for pick up approximately 3-4 weeks later. Digitals will be delivered at the time you pick up your prints. And if you need help with installation, we will gladly provide someone who can help with installation.

choose an experience portrait artist

Creating classic, unique and timeless portraits is truly a skilled art. Being able to reproduce consistent quality and style comes with experience most hobbyists don’t have. I have spent the past 10 years of my life studying and perfecting  my passion for family photography. With the years I have become expert in facial angles, quality of light, camera position, correct lens usage and color harmony. This are few reason my portraits are so special and sought after.

As a result of photographing many families and kids, I understand family relationships and developmental stages of children, making your portraits experience fun and stress free.

Every portrait I create for my clients is personally enhanced and retouched by ME with great attention to detail. Enhancing portraits can include smoothing skin, removing blemishes, softening lines, enhancing eyes and removing dark circles.

scheduling

Family and Children: The sooner the better ! Sessions fill up quickly, and it’s always best to contact us as soon as possible for an appointment.

Newborn Sessions: Ideally I like to capture newborns within the first 10 days. This is the time your sweet little one will be deeply sleeping most of the time, that way I’ll be able to cuddle, curl, and pose them into those sweet sleepy newborn images.

Baby Session : I recommend planning your baby portraits around the following milestones:
• 6 Months: Sitting, smiling, and starting to show their personality.
• 9 Months: On the move! Crawling, rolling, and giggles galore.
• 12 Months: Standing, cruising, or even taking first steps. We love ending sessions with a cake smash to celebrate their very first birthday.

Maternity: Maternity photography is best captured around 32 to 37 weeks, when your belly is full and round. This timing can be different for everyone.

Smash Cake: Your little baby is no longer a newborn! Turning ONE is a huge milestone and before you know it, they will be walking and talking. For one year old birthdays we have a special photoshoot called a Cake Smash session. We do a normal hour appointment capturing those chubby legs and first teeth. The last 20 minutes are spent devouring delicious cake!

how long will my session last?

Sessions typically last 45-60 mins (newborns a little more – 120 mins). I make sure there is plenty of time for diaper changes, snacks, and cuddles to put your baby at ease. I encourage you to bring along a change of outfit and accessories to add variety to your child’s portraits. During a spontaneous and fun session, I will be able to capture unexpected moments that will become beautiful pieces of art.

what to wear

Clothing is very important for a successful session. If more than one person is participating on the session coordinate your outfits with a palette of complementary colors for beautiful portraits. MOST IMPORTANT  is to look at the colors of your home and the rooms you will be displaying this images – it works well if your clothing and decor colors and patterns complement each other.

Neutrals, creams and soft pastel colors always looks great. Have fun with layers and accessories to add pops of bright color and dimension to your portraits. Rich textures, simple patterns, chunky jewelry, scarves, hats, headbands, and ruffles photographs well. ABSOLUTELY no logos, printed shirts or busy patterns. I always encourage getting creative with fairy wings, rubber rain boots, stylish hats, and funky headbands. Avoid clothes that are too bulky. Depending on the season, layers are ok, but be mindful of too many layers. And don’t forget about shoes! They’re an important part of your wardrobe.Bare feet are always preferred for studio !

Newborns and babies: I love to photograph in a cute diaper cover or their adorable bare bottoms. I offer a variety of accessories but feel free to bring your own ‘newborn props’. Clothes that have texture, like cable-knit sweaters, corduroy, lace, and ruffles photograph beautifully in baby portraits. I recommend simple, classic apparel that reflects your style.

Maternity: I recommend outfits that flatter your shape and accentuate your curves. An empire-waist gown. A long flowing skirt with a bandeaux bra. Add a beautiful cardigan with just one button closed above your bare belly.

Smash Cake: Please bring a short sleeved white onesie, tutu or a diaper cover for the photos – we want to see some baby skin!
